Sunsail Cruising Weekend

Ideal for beginners and experienced sailors alike, a weekend on the waves! 

Whether you choose to sail from Plymouth, Portsmouth or Largs, you can be sure of stunning scenery and exhilarating sailing. Ideal for beginners or keen sailors alike, these courses strike a good balance between relaxing and active participation the sailing allowing complete flexibility. The boats used are all Sunfast 36's, 37's or similar with comfortable accommodation on board for up to six crew. You will be supervised at all times by an RYA approved skipper.

This itinerary is a guide only, actual timings will depend on weather, crew competencies etc   Friday 7pm - Board your yacht and meet the rest of the crew. Evening meal ashore.   7am Saturday - Breakfast and head out to sea    6pm - Arrive at Marina for Evening meal.    Sunday 7am - Breakfast and return cruise    Sunday 5pm - Arrive back at base.

Sunsail Competent Crew Sailing Course

An essential RYA qualification for beginners.

Perfect for those who want to take their first step towards further RYA qualifications, the competent crew course is the basic standard required. Covering topics such as navigation, rope work, sail handling and safety, it's great for those who have never sailed before but want to learn how. The course takes place in either Largs, Plymouth or Portsmouth and lasts five days. Run by the UK's leading sailing provider, Sunsail, you can be sure of a fantastic adventure while you learn a great new skill.

This itinerary is subject to change and is intended purely as a guide.  Sunday 7pm - Join the yacht, meet the crew and receive basic safety brief.  Monday - Man overboard exercise and sail changing.  Tuesday - Engine manoeuvre and berthing practise, navigation instruction.  Wednesday - Day and night sail  Thursday - Practise drills  Friday - Final sail, presentation of certificates.

Whitbread Round the World Yacht Sailing

A full day on board a true racing thoroughbred in the waters of the Solent

Launched in 1992 and designed by the world famous Bruce Farr the stunning 60ft 'Blueprint' (formerly 'Intrum Justita') was a successful entrant in the 1992 Whitbread/Volvo Round the World Challenge. She set a new record for the number of miles sailed by a monohull in 24 hours (425). Be part of sailing history as you put this sleek beauty through her paces on the ideal sailing waters of the Solent. Perfect for novices and experienced sailors alike.

Join the boat in the marina at 9am for fresh coffee or tea while you are shown the boat and receive a full safety briefing before heading out onto the Solent for a day's sailing. Lunch and refreshments will be served during the day before returning to the marina at around 4.30pm.
